The Lyceum Masterclass provides an imperative platform to budding managers to interact with high power industry panels on current burning issues and impress them with their knowledge and presentation skills. It is an excellent depiction of the industry-academia synergy and ‘learning by doing’ pedagogy offered at B-school.Lyceum is a concept which is derived from ancient Greece, where the great philosophers, such as Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato, assembled in a designated area and interacted with their disciples through dialogues. The essential feature is the interaction between experts and novices of great potential.
The overarching theme of this year’s Lyceum Masterclass presentations is “Managing the New Normal – Way Forward for Indian Industries” which is about moving ahead after Covid-19 scenario and bringing growth and economic development in the Indian context. This year students are participating in industry related sectors for masterclass such as Banking & Finance, IT-ITES, Insurance, Retail & SCM, Edu/Agri/Fintech startups and Automobiles.
The Semi-final round of the competition witnessed presence of Industry Experts as members of jury like Mr Animesh Gupta (Director Commercial, Adhunik Power & Natural Resources Ltd.) and Mr Anil Bhalla (Sr. VP, National Head – Commercial Lines, Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Co. Ltd) from Banking & Financial services sector, Mr Pankaj Pathak (Founder& CEO, Sadar Bazar Online), Mr Manoj Taneja (Head of E commerce, CROCS) and Mr Vipin Shankar (Director Operations(ILS), APL Logistics from Retail & Supply Chain Management sector,Mr Pankaj Bansal (Business leader, TCS) from Technology domain, Mr SharadMathur (MD & CEO, Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Ltd) from Insurance domain,Mr M R Sundaresam (Head of procurement, Nissan Automobiles), Mr Shakti Upadhyaya (Marketing & PR Head, Kia Motors India) and Mr Sukhdeep Singh Kochar ( Head of Customer Relations, Mahindra & Mahindra ltd.) from Automobiles sector and Mr Rakesh Vacher (Co-founder & CEO, Pokeify), Mr Nitin Jain (Co-founder & CEO, O’Agrifarm) and Mr Ramit Chopra (Senior Analyst, Amway) from Edu/Fin/Agri Tech Start-ups sector. The competing teams were judged and scrutinized on various parameters like the content, communication, creativity of ideas and feasibility etc.
Today, in the semi-final round of Lyceum, selected student teams mentored by faculty experts in the field from previous rounds have presented before an industry panel in a formal presentation for about 12to15 minutes followed by interaction from industry experts. The best performing team from each sectors will now be participating in the final/mega round of Lyceum and present their work on the basis of feedback received & fine tuning their research in front of senior industry experts.
