Greater Noida: St. Joseph School, Greater Noida, celebrated  Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with immense enthusiasm, dignity and patriotic fervour under the theme “Salute to the Soil, Honour to the Brave.” The school campus was filled with an atmosphere of patriotism and excitement.  The programme commenced with a warm welcome, followed by flag hoisting and the ceremonial salute. The National Anthem and patriotic slogans expressed reverence and dedication towards the nation. A special prayer for the nation was then offered.  The school choir presented a beautiful patriotic musical tribute titled “Swaranjali,” filling the atmosphere with patriotic spirit. Students of the primary classes also participated enthusiastically. The UKG students presented “Nanhe Veer,” conveying a powerful message of courage and patriotism.  The Chief Guest, Mr. Richard Ellis, Education Officer, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, graced the occasion. Mr. Ellis has more than three and a half decades of rich experience in the field of education. He served for over a decade as a Postgraduate Teacher of Economics at Army Public School, Lucknow. He later served as Vice-Principal at Shigally Hill International Academy, Dehradun, and as Additional Principal at St. Stephen’s School, Chandigarh. He is currently serving as an Education Officer at CISCE, New Delhi.

Addressing the students, Mr. Richard Ellis delivered an inspiring message on patriotism, humility, humanity and the importance of being conscious of one’s duties. He also has a keen interest in literature, music, theatre, debates and public speaking. His life motto is, “The best service to humanity can be rendered with humility.”

The programme was graced by the presence of Principal Father Gipson Pallaty, Manager Father Andrew, Brother Satish, Sister Preema and Sister Vijaya.

Students brought the spirit of the freedom struggle and patriotism alive through a series of vibrant cultural performances. Class VI-D and VI-E presented “Freedom in Rhythm,” Class I-A presented “Freedom in Movements,” Class IV-B and IV-C presented “Azadi,” Class I-C presented “Sons of the Soil,” and Class IX-E presented “Honouring the Brave.”

A special address on Partition Remembrance Day was also delivered, acquainting students with the history of the Partition of India and its impact. The addresses by the Principal and the Chief Guest inspired the students to fulfil their responsibilities towards the nation.  The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a “Grand Salute” presented by the students of Class VIII-C. Students who performed exceptionally well in various competitions and achievements were felicitated with awards.  The celebration ended on a joyful note. Ice cream was distributed among all the students and members present, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.  The Independence Day celebration strengthened the spirit of patriotism, respect for the brave, unity and responsibility towards the nation among the students, leaving everyone with a memorable message—Salute to the Soil and Honour to the Brave.
