Greater Noida: E-Yantra Lab (An Embedded Systems & Robotics Setup Initiative of IIT-Bombay), ECE Department, ITS Engineering College organized Webinar on “Webinar on Imagined Speech: An upcoming development in Brain Computer Interface (BCI)”. The talk was delivered by the Dr. Yash Vardhan Varshney (IIT BOMBAY). ITS Engineering College, Executive Director- Dr. Vikas Singh, Director- Prof. Sanjay Yadav and Dean (Academics)- Prof. Gagan Deep Arora presence graced the program. The guest was welcomed by HOD ECE- Prof. Monika Jain. Vice Chairman of I.T.S Engineering College, Mr. Sohil Chaddha has appreciated that learning through these kinds of webinars during the COVID-19 lockdown period will enhance knowledge of students, researcher and faculty. Dr. Yash Vardhan Varshney is Post-doctoral fellow in Psychophysiology lab at IIT Bombay. He is also associated with some companies like Rapidcode Tech. Pvt. Ltd. as Research Associate (Machine Learning) in R&D; and as Associate Project Coordinator in Teevra Edutech. Pvt. Ltd.

The main objective of this webinar was to to learn about the Brain-Computer Interface or BCI, which is a rapidly evolving technology that builds a direct channel between the human brain and the computer. Research groups all over the world have been working enthusiastically on Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs). BCIs have been used to restore movement, assess cognitive functioning, and provide communication and environmental control. Participants found this webinar important as they were introduced to an upcoming area of research and interesting career option.

Dr. Yash Vardhan Varshney provided information about the possibilities in the field of Brain Computer Interface (BCI), which provides a direct connection from the human brain to a computer. BCIs translate brain activity into control signals for numerous applications, including tools to help severely disabled users communicate and improve their quality of life. He explained about the existing and current issues handled by experts of the field with some of his own research experience.

More than 150 participants including students, faculty, researchers and industry persons from many reputed institutes and companies, such as IIIT Guwahati, NIT Trichy, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh, I.E.T. Lucknow, Thapar Institute of Engineering &Technology, JSS academy of technical education, Fuji Electric India, Rapidcode Technologies Private Limited, Transcotech Services etc. attended the webinar. Dr Yash Vardhan Varshney answered all the queries of participants. Webinar was being closed by vote of thanks by the Ms. Garima Chandel (AP-ECE, Coordinator). All the participants were awarded with the E- certificates.
